Coloring Lulu Review

I was pretty excited to be reviewing this product, as I had been looking for an app that was similar to this. When you have younger children who like to "color" you tend to go through lots of coloring books and crayons. I thought this would be such a great item to keep them interested in using their imaginations.

My original plan was to give this to my nephews. They love to color, and they LOVE using anything that has to do with Technology. The packaging made this sound pretty simple, just download the app and you are good to go.

I did run into a problem here- I couldn't find the app when I searched for it on the Google Play Store. I had to go and type it into a google search and the link directed me to the app that I needed. It was not very complicated, but took more time than I would have liked.

In the app, You can scan the QR code at the top of the coloring pages to begin coloring that page digitally. Or, you have the option to take a picture of a partially colored page and edit and finish coloring in the app. Then you can share your work!

One thing I did notice when I was working with this app, is that it does "lag" a little bit, though it was not enough to deter me from the app. I still played around and finished coloring my picture. I'm a kid at heart, what can I say? I do not think younger children will be able to notice the lag that much.

One of my favorite features of this app, is that when you are coloring, you can choose different mediums: crayons, markers, erasers, etc. And the colors, though not that many, give you enough choices to create little "masterpieces".

I tried this app on to different devices: my smartphone- LG G2, and my tablet- Google Nextbook. This app was not compatible with the Nextbook, but we have other tablets to try this on also.

All in all, I thought this was a pretty good product. It will definitely be something to keep the little ones busy in the car, or even at home. They can still use their imaginations while being on technology. The Crayon stylus that comes with it is perfect for little or big hands. It is very easy to hold.

I can't wait for one of my nephews to come next week to try this out. I also think another child that I watch several times a week will also enjoy this product.

Why I made the Switch to Mac

I have to admit, I was one of those people who used to make fun of people with Mac’s. I know. I’m a jerk. I used to think to myself, “I know they are faster, but are they really that much better?” The answer, my friends, is yes. Yes, they are better. And here is why:
  1. Windows 8 happened. This operating system, in my eyes, was a complete and total failure. It was meant for tablets, and smart phones, and not for people like me who want to get things done. No, I do not want to switch back and forth between the Start Screen and the Desktop. It was far too different, and WAY too glitchy.
  2. Freezes/Crashes/Blue Screens. I kid you not, it seemed like everyday I was having to do a hard restart on my Windows computer. Don’t give me that crap about viruses either, I had a scanner, and every sort of anti everything installed. Care of Avast. Windows just inevitably, crashes.
  3. Viruses. Most viruses are actually written specifically for PC’s. I’m not saying that your Mac will never get a virus, but if you are careful, the chances are extremely unlikely.
  4. Speed. I didn’t actually know how well my Mac would work until I unboxed it. I went from a top of the line Alienware gaming laptop, to an iMac. I had only have as much memory. After using my Mac for several months, I have to say, even with half of the memory my PC had, my Mac is still faster.
  5. Looks. This isn’t actually a very good reason to buy a Mac, but nevertheless, it helped me decide on one. Mac’s look great. When you have one sitting on your desk, it makes you feel good. They are simple and sleek, and yet, they are powerhouses.
Sorry Microsoft, you just can’t hack it. Not in my book anyways. If I didn’t have to install third party software onto my Windows 8 computer to even make it functional enough for me to do anything, maybe we would talk about switching back. Until I see some major changes, I am sticking with my Mac. Even with the higher price point. It was worth every penny!

Review: Weight Guru's Bathroom Scale

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

After a snafu with my previous scale (that I hated), I was able to try out Weight Guru's Bathroom Scale. I have to say, i was pretty impressed. It was super easy to set up. The directions were very clear as to what I had to do, and where I had to go to download the App that pairs with the scale.

If you are looking for any type of scale to go along with your exercise routine or diet, then this is definitely the scale for you. I actually have never been excited to weigh myself than I was with this scale.

After you download the app you do the initial weigh in. This is done fairly easily. You just step on. First it tells you your weigh in regular numbers, and then a little pattern comes on the screen, almost like a bar code. You hold your phone over that with the app open, and you are weighed it. The App is what makes this scale extraordinary. It keeps track of how much you have gained or lost in easy to read graphs.

This was by far the best "weighing in" experience I have ever had!

I have fallen in love with this product! It is such a good thing to have around. The only thing is that I wish I would have had it sooner! Lifeguard Mini is a Portable Charger that fits right in the palm of your hand. I can charger just about anything! Within less than a minute, it had charged my phone up a full percent. It is not a "slow charger"; it charges just as fast as if you had your phone plugged into the wall.

Review: Pimsleur Approach German 1

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

I have always wanted to learn a second language, but I wasn't really sure where to start. I had taken Spanish classes in High School, almost four full years, but I could not retain any of it. The classes did not go at the pace that I required. We would go slowly through parts that I understood, and the parts of the classes that I struggled with it seemed like we skipped right through. My brother had similar issues when he had tried to learn a second language.

My brother was the first to try the German 1 classes from Pimsleur. After the first unit, he was actually able to recite a sentence in German.

My favorite thing about this class is that you can go at your own pace. If you don't quite comprehend something, you can re-listen to that particular segment.

I also wanted to quickly talk about how wonderful the packaging of this particular product was. It was very sturdy, and when propped upright, it looks like a hardback book. I love that you could line all of the different lessons up on a shelf and they would look like a row of matching books.

I think this is a great product. The units are very easy to listen to, and I love that I could listen to these in the car. I think these would be great to listen to on the very long car ride (in total almost 16 hours!) we have coming up.
