Monster Madness: Vampires

Monster Madness: Vampires

Vampires have went from the Horror to Romance section in the past few years. Vampires used to be something that gave people the Heebie Jeebies, and now they are posters on our bedroom wall.

Bram Stoker’s, Dracula. Anne Rice’s, Lestat. Joss Whedon’s, Angel. Stephenie Meyer’s, Edward Cullen.
I joined the vampire craze when I was fairly young, thanks to the quirky, fashion forward, Vampire Slayer we all know as Buffy. Buffy blurred the lines between Horror, Comedy, and Drama. I would almost say that she was the first of many strong female characters in pop culture.

Around the same time that Buffy came into our lives, Blade appeared on the big screen. Half Human, Half Vampire. Many knew him from the Marvel comics, but people like myself became fans while watching him and Stephen Dorff battle each other on screen.

Now, Vampires are around every corner we turn, figuratively speaking. The Winchester’s hunt them, The Salvatore’s are them. With and without souls. Vegetarian sparkling vampires, and vampires who are soulless, evil things.

Where exactly did all of these myths start? Do they really exist? Or is these creatures, that we all hold so near and dear, made up by media for our viewing pleasure? I dug a little deeper just to satisfy my curiosity.

There are many different tales of the “Origin of the Vampire”, but this seems to be the most common.

Porphryia. Many of you have probably not heard of that word, but it is widely considered "The Vampire Disease". Porphryia is a very rare disease, which causes irregularities in the product of heme, which is an Iron-rich Pigment found in blood. People who suffer from the severe form of this disease suffer from sensitivity to sunlight, experience stomach aches, and suffer from severe confusion. Long Ago, one of the ways to treat Porphyria would possibly have been to drink blood, though that has not been proven.
Porphyria is hereditary, so it would be common for towns to be scared of these "Vampires"  as it would be show up more often in certain areas as families intermarried.

Though some people actually believe in Supernatural beings, do you? Do you wonder if your very own Elena Gilbert or Edward Cullen is out there? Or do you think that the myth of Vampires is just that? A Myth.

I think that there are such things as vampires, but not your modern day bloodsuckers. I like to refer to the as Energy Vampires. Have you ever met a person who walks into a room and sucks the life right out of it? I have. Those are the vampires that I believe in. As far as the blood drinking, sparkling, bursting into dust kind of vampires? No way. I think Porphryia is the closest the world will ever see to vampires. What do you think?

Review & Giveaway: Splash Cards

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

Gathering around a table and playing cards. It's one of my favorite past times that I enjoy with my family. But Now, with Splash cards from Winning Moves Games, we could lounge in the pool and play our favorite card games.
I received two different types of Splash Cards to review, Splash Jack Royal and Splash Pals. I opened the Splash Pals first, and played around with them. I watch a disabled adult 3 days per week and we played around with these for a while, creating different people, matching colors and numbers. These Splash Pals definitely can be made into more than one game. Each Card has either a head, torso or legs on it, as well as a different colored background and a number. You can make different characters, sort by body part, or even play a matching game with numbers.

Splash Jack Royal is exactly what the packaging looks like! Imagine all of your friends lounging around the pool playing a friendly game of go fish, or Poker, if you are into that kind of thing. I can safely sit next to the pool and hang out with friends and family playing cards without having to worry about someone splashing and getting the cards soaked.

Now the best part about these cards... They can be disinfected. I think Splash Pals would be the perfect inclusion to a classroom or even a youngsters room, because if they get dirty, or after multiple uses, you can disinfect them! Bye Bye Germs!

I really loved these two games from Winning Moves Games!

Review: Surpahs Lightweight BMI Bathroom Scale

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

I have reviewed a few bathrooms scales, but I think this one is one of my favorites. I love that this is so little and not bulky at all. I think The simplistic design is what makes this so unique.

One thing I never liked about scales (Except the number that they tell me, HAHA) is that I never had a place for them! This scale is probably half of the size and thickness of others that I have owned. I also love that it has rounded edges.

The bright display makes it very easy to see the numbers. I prefer the white numbers over the usual black numbers It makes the numbers pop out and they are much easier to read.

This can be programmed for multiple users, which is another thing I really like.

One of the things that sets this scale apart is that it also tells you your BMI, which, in my opinion is more important than your weight.
Two color selection: White and Pink
Auto identify up to 4 pre-set users, provides accurate body weight measurement and Body Mass Index (BMI) on 2.3" (59mm) diameter big round shiny LCD screen, with very nice blue backlight, easy reading in the dark.
11" x 9.6" x 0.9" small, sleek, lovely design with 0.2" (6mm) thickness more pure & higher tempered glass weighing platform.
Smart gravity point detect and auto-calibrate. The G-Sensor patent-pending technology embded in 4 TPU skidproof stands support more stable and accurate measurement from 11 lb to 330 lb.
New "Sense-ON" patent-pending technology gets instant readings when you step on the scale.
This scale is one that I will keep out in the open in my bathroom instead of having to hide it under the sink because of how big and bulky it is. I have the perfect place for it!

Review: High Road Car Seat Organizer

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

Road trips. One of the great ways to spends time and enjoy new experiences with your family. Many times though that great experience you were looking for turns into your worst nightmare. 45 minutes into the trip, the kids start whining in the background that they are bored, hungry etc... then you have to sort through the piles of diaper bags, purses, and blankets in the backseat to grab out the coloring book and crayons. Peace is restored. 10 minutes after that, your precious angels decide they are thirsty... groan.

Many of you remember that I went on a short vacation this past summer, and I wish I would of had a product like High Road's Car Seat Organizer, and I am not even a parent. Riding 5 hours straight in a car is enough to drive anyone bonkers. I was always having to stretch my arms to reach into the back seat and then dig around in bags looking for a snack, a book, a drink or anything else to keep my time occupied. I may be an adult, but on that long and boring trip through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan I would have gave my right arm for a coloring book and crayons.

I think my favorite feature of the High Road Car Seat Organizer is that the middle compartment is insulated! So essentially it can be used as a cooler. This is perfect for packing little snacks and drinks. The top can also be flipped around to keep smeller items like Crayons from rolling off the hard surface. With all of the pockets, there is room for everything you could possibly need for a road trip, or even those rides to soccer practice, or sitting through a sports event. You can just grab this out of the car, and immediately have everything you could want.

I can't wait for next summer when my husband and I road trip across the country. This Car Seat Organizer will definitely be in the car with us. This even came in handy when I took my nephews to a festival a few weeks ago. They loved using the top of this for extra space to set their food and drinks on the way home. I could not be happier with a product.

Review: Exfolimate

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

I am always looking for new and innovative ways to get that soft smooth skin that everyone desires. I was given the opportunity to try a product that I have heard quite a bit about, and I was very excited!

I was very perplexed when I received Exfolimate, I had never seen anything quite like it. Exfolimate came with two different sized items, a larger one for exfoliating larger areas on your body, and a smaller one to exfoliate your face.

The directions state to use these tools after you have taken a shower when your skin is "wet and supple". When your skin is dry, this product does not have any effect.

I tried this a few days ago, and was very pleased with how it worked on my feet and ankle region... It removed quite a bit of dead skin, but used on other places of my body, the effect wasn't as great. I think that if the metal piece on exfolimate was a little sharper, this product would have worked much better on other areas of my body.

I can say I was satisfied with how this worked on my feet, and because of that I will continue to use it. It was also very easy to clean, no scrubbing necessary. You just run the stainless steel edge under running water and wipe it off and it's clean!

You can purchase Exfolimate here!

Review: Carmex Moisture Plus

CARMEX MOISTURE PLUS LIP BALM

Each and every one of us knows the woes of getting horribly chapped lips. thought I tend not to get them very often because I am always wearing lip balm of some sort, I have always sworn by Carmex.

I was given the opportunity to review Carmex Moisture Plus, and immediately thought how perfect these would be to include in stockings for the Holidays.

I have tried these before, and I did love them, but I really fell in love with these ones because of the adorable designs! The Black and White one was my favorite. This stylish packaging lets everyone express themselves!

Review: Insta Natural Vitamin C Facial Toner & Eye Gel

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

I was able to review two more products from InstaNatural. I have reviewed their facial cleansing oil previously and fell in love with it. This time I was able to try the Vitamin C Toner and Eye Gel. I loved both of these products for both of their uses.

The Vitamin C toner was fabulous. It smelled just like oranges. My husband even mentioned to me that my face smelled nice, which was an odd compliment, but a compliment just the same. I really loved how refreshed this made my skin feel, and the scent was definitely a plus. I hate putting things on my skin that smell like nothing but chemicals. I also love that this toner is in a spray form instead of having to apply it to a cotton pad and apply it to my face.

InstaNatural Vitamin C Toner is infused with Vitamin C to help neutralize free radicals, and help in the anti-aging process.

Review: Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

Oral Hygeine is Important. I have said this many times. So I was really excited to be able to review a couple new products from Arm & Hammer.  I think all of these products would make fantastic stocking stuffers!

It's that time of the year when we all eat more and more sugary treats than the rest of the year. Candy, Pie, cookies, and other desserts, which means that you need to pay extra special attention to your teeth.

Review & Giveaway: Portagio Together Tote in Cerulean

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

This is probably one of my most favorite items I have ever reviewed. I can honestly say that this makes my life a lot easier, as I can fit everything I need right in one bag and be on my way.

I will be the first person to admit, I am not the most organized person. My life is chaotic, and that reflects on my house, and most definitely my bag, but the Portagio Together Tote is amazing. It has tons of pockets, as well as a big middle section for larger items.

Review & Coupon Code: Memebox

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

I was so excited when my Memebox came in the mail! Memebox contains full size Asian beauty products, and I have to say, I was MORE than impressed!

1) Pure Skin Hand Care Pack (Pink Package)
These are a glove type item. They are plastic on the outside and have a fabric and gel on the inside. You put them on and then go upon your business from anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. then you take them off and rinse your hands. I attempted to use these while typing, and though it worked, they were a little bulky, so I would reccomend doing something else in that time. these leave your hands extremely soft and moisturized!

Review and Giveaway: Neater Feeder

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

I have three larger dogs, and all of them are sloppy eaters. I decided this would best be suited for my Australian Shepherd, Neener. Not only will this stop her from spilling food all over the floor, but I absolutely love that it is raised. She is getting old, and this seems to be much easier for her to eat out of than her regular food and water bowls.

I have never been more grateful for a product like this in my life than I was this past weekend. My nephews came over, and they are obsessed with trying to feed the animals, but always end up spilling the food everywhere! Sure enough, within minutes they were headed over and they spilled food.. but this time, instead of it going all over the floor, this caught the mess. They also managed to spill the water, which is usually quite a headache, because our den where the dog's food bowls are is carpeted. This time, instead of spilling all over the carpet, the mess all went down the holes into the bottom of the bowl for easy cleanup!

Review: Adovia Natural Sulfur Soap

Disclaimer: I received these items in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to post a positive review. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may differ.

I thought for sure that this soap was going to make my eyes water from being so smelly, after all, it is called sulfur soap. Even still, I was willing to take that chance after years of hearing how wonderful sulfur is for your skin. Dermatologists sometimes will recommend sulfur applied to your skin, to treat:
- Acne
- Seborrheic Dermatitis
- Rosacea
- Eczema
- Dandruff

I suffer from mild breakouts, a few here and there, but nothing too serious, just enough to mess up my day. I used this soap, and was happy to say it didn't smell like sulfur, which I was extremely grateful for. The smell kind of reminds me of a very mild antibacterial soap, so it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either.

I think my favorite thing about this soap is that it was not drying. Though I love to feel that very clean feeling, I know when my skin gets super tight and dry after using harsh soaps, I will pay for it later with a massive over production of oil. With this soap, my skin did not do that.

I can say that I do think this soap is helping my skin. I am noticing a few less breakouts, and some of my oiliness is going away. I am actually very happy with this product and will continue to use it until the bar is gone.
